The Planning Board of Legal IT, a branch of the Young Bar Association of Montreal (the “YBAM”), are looking for preeminent speakers for the fourth edition of what is now the most important conference in Canada on IT and law.
Basic Information
- Sessions can be given either in French or in English (or both);
- Speakers will be grouped on panels of 2 or 3 experts on the subject of the presentation;
- Depending on where they are placed in the schedule of the conference, sessions’ length range between an hour and an hour and thirty minutes.
Date and Location
Legal IT 5.0 will take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on April 4th, 2011.
Timetable
Selected speakers must be ready to respect the following approximate deadlines :
- Late November 2010 : Deadline for providing a +-300 words biography and a high-resolution picture.
- Mid-December 2010 : Deadline for providing a detailed synopsis of the presentation.
- Early March 2011 : Deadline for providing the visual aid that will be used during the presentation, and will be later published on the www.legalit.ca website.
How to Apply?
If you wish to speak at Legal IT 5.0, please fill in this form. You are invited to submit several subjects since LegalIT speakers are often requested to give two presentations at the event.
Deadline for Applying
This Call for Speakers ends on October 15th, 2010. The Legal IT Planning Board will communicate with selected speakers in the days following the end of the Call for Speakers.
Criteria for Selection of Speakers
The Legal IT Planning Board will study all of the applications based, inter alia, on the following criteria:
- The qualifications and the standing of the applicant;
- The appeal of the application;
- The current state, the importance and the relevance of the proposed subjects;
- Whether the proposed subjects provide both practical and theoretical legal education;
- Whether the applicant is able to provide content for posting on the LegalIT website, such as blog posts, whitepapers, techno tips…
- Whether the proposed subjects are in line with the LegalIT Planning Board and YBAM’s objectives in terms of continuing education;
- The French / English balance in the program.
